Asian Insights, Inc., organized in 1995, has been providing consulting and corporate services principally to non-Philippine companies wishing to invest in, organize businesses, or to avail themselves of tax and other investment incentives in the Philippines. It is a “one-stop shop” as the firm provides and coordinates strategic legal and tax planning, corporate housekeeping, tax and local permit compliance, management and preparation of books of accounts and preparation of financial statements in coordination with the law firm InsightsLaw & Company (formerly Tam-Yap & Ilao Law Offices) and the accounting firm, Tam-Yap Paor CPA's, both holding office within the company’s premises.
Asian Insights provides property and development related services, including the acquisition of land, rights of way, easements, and water rights, and assists in securing national and local governmental permits for infrastructure and other projects.
Experience
In 1997 Asian Insights oversaw the acquisition of approximately 5,000 hectares of land for the 345 MW hydro-electric San Roque Multi-Purpose Power project in San Manuel, Pangasinan. Asian Insights was also engaged by CalEnergy International Services, Inc. to assess and review documentation of land acquired by the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System for the Manila Water Supply Project III andthe Laiban Dam Project. Asian Insights also assisted the PECABAR law offices in the negotiation of the Energy Conversion Agreement between Korean Electric Power Corporation and the National Power Corporation for the 1,200MW Ilijan Combined-Cycle Power Plant, Ilijan, Batangas.
Asian Insights was engaged as a consultant of Luzon Hydro Corporation to address the condition-precedent requirements for the effectiveness of its Power Purchase Agreement with National Power Corporation for the construction and operation under a build-operate-transfer arrangement of the 70 MW Bakun Hydroelectric Power Plant in the Provinces of Ilocos Sur and Benguet and of the various credit agreements financing its construction.
Asian Insights secured the registrations, governmental approvals, and other conditions precedent required for the effectiveness of the Build-Rehabilitate-Operate-Transfer Agreement between National Power Corporation and the Argentinean company Industrias Metalurgicas Pescarmona S.A.I.C.&F. covering the Caliraya, Botocan, and Kalayaan Hydroelectric Power Facilities in Laguna, including the new 345 MW Kalayaan II Hydroelectric Power Station. Asian Insights secured approvals required from the Regional Development Council, the Department of Finance, the Department of Energy, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, the Board of Investments, and other agencies for the construction and operation of the project and its registration as Pioneer Enterprise under the Investment Incentives Act.
Asian Insights has assisted in the organization, company registration, and procurement of licenses for the operation of a thrift bank and similar organizations, as well as several holding companies and manufacturing, industrial, and commercial enterprises.
