Teresa R. Tam-Yap is a Certified Public Accountant and Auditor with Board of Accountancy and Securities and Exchange Commission accreditation. She was admitted to the practice of law in 1989. Her practice area is corporation and commercial law, with emphasis on projects and transactions, including property development, industrial projects, construction, and land and right of way acquisitions. Her specialty is tax planning, structures, relief, and compliance.
Ms. Tam-Yap practice also extends to family law and estate planning. She has handled international adoption, negotiation of pre-nuptial agreements, judicial settlement of estate, and annulment of marriage.
Ms. Tam-Yap is the founder and president of Asian Insights (1996) and the Managing Partner of InsightsLaw & Company, formerly Tam-Yap & Ilao Law Offices and before that, Tam-Yap Caga & Associates (2004) and Tam-Yap Paor CPAs (2007). In such roles, Ms. Tam-Yap leads and oversees all of the projects handled by Asian Insights and its two supporting firms.
Before founding Asian Insights Inc. in 1996, Ms. Tam-Yap was a Senior Associate in SyCip Salazar, Hernandez and Gatmaitan, the largest law firm in the Philippines. She was also a consultant of the law firm PECABAR and a taxation professor at the De La Salle University and the Assumption College, both major educational institutions in Metro Manila.
Ms. Tam-Yap is counsel to several local and international corporations doing business in the Philippines. She acts as director or corporate secretary of several companies, including ACT Tower Condominium, CBK Power Corporation, Easytrip Services Corporation , Egis Investment Partners Philippines, Inc., Egis Projects Philippines, Inc., Egis Road Operation Philippines Inc., Marubeni Scholarship Foundation Inc., Metro Parking Management (Philippines) Corporation, Shimizu Philippine Contractors, Inc., SKF Philippines, and Stockton Agrimor Philippines, Inc. Her clients include Johor Corporation, a state-owned company of Johor Bahru, SKF AB of Sweden and SKF Far East Co., Ltd. She also assisted Egis Projects SAS (France) in connection with its investment in North Luzon Expressway.
